1st single from "Jollity"-IT'S NICE TO BE NICE.

26 September 2006

“My mam used to say to me ‘It’s nice to be nice Thomas’ before she smacked me around the ear for being a bollox. A ‘Bollox’ is Irish for ‘Rufian’ and ‘Rufian’ is English for ‘Rapscallion’.....!! Maybe..”

T. Walsh – 2006

Well…..we cheated there a little bit. If truth be known “It’s nice to be nice” was put to radio very early in 2005 as part of a double A sided compact disc promo to highlight the first 2 acts on 1969 Records The other track was a Couse and the impossible tune. National Irish radio station 2 FM took The Pugs track to their hearts and the Irish public took it to their hearts and minds. It became, without doubt, The Pugs biggest radio-hit and due to, firstly, the demand from radio, and secondly the demand from the public the band and 1969 decided to press up a very limited run of the track as a 3 song E.P.

The second and third tracks were there for the effect of reaquainting the previous-pugs with the Irish public and these earlier tracks had recently seen a resurgance in their profile. “The Finer Things In Life” featured prominently on the hugely successful Irish movie Headrush starring Steven Berkoff and Huey Morgan of the Fun Lovin’ Criminals. And “Monorail” had climbed to the giddy heights of number 2 in the “Voted for…..” listeners charts on Australia’s biggest national radio station Triple J

If there’s any of these ultra-scarce E.P’s left at 1969 they won’t be there for long – GRAB A COPY NOW
